Cheri Sims has been a practicing respiratory therapist for 28 years with a focus on chronic lung disease prevention and asthma management/education. She has worked in skilled nursing facilities, long-term acute care, critical care, emergency care, and specialized in neonatal and pediatric care. She is certified by the AAP as an NRP instructor and certified by AHA as a PALS and BLS instructor.
Cheri has been employed by Denver Health Hospital & Authority for the last 11 years and is currently the Critical Care Respiratory Specialist for Neonatal/Pediatrics, and is chair of the NICU RT Best Practice and RT PICU Leadership Committees. She is passionate about the respiratory profession, supporting respiratory staff and student involvement in the neonatal and pediatric units, and bringing awareness to the valuable impact of respiratory therapy.
She earned her Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care, Magna Cum Laude, through Boise State University. Recipient of the RT Leader of the Year award in 2021 and The PHIL (Pulmonary Health and Illnesses of the Lung) award in 2022. In her free time, she enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, snow skiing, and traveling with her family.
